Charlie, the son of Tiger Woods, misses the U.S. Junior Amateur by 18 strokes

The only person to win the U.S. Junior Amateur three times is Tiger Woods, who did it at the ages of 15, 16, and 17.

The 15-year-old son of golf legend Tiger Woods, Charlie Woods, is still trying to emulate his father, but he recently missed the cut in a junior golf competition.

According to the Associated Press and USA Today, Woods shot a 10-over 80 in the second round after shooting a 12-over 82 the day before, missing the cut by 18 strokes for the U.S. Junior Amateur on Tuesday, July 23.

The older Woods is no stranger to the tournament. According to USA Today, Tiger, who witnessed his son’s competition last week, is the only person to have won the U.S. Junior Amateur three times, at the ages of 15, 16, and 17.

Charlie, on the other hand, has been gradually acclimating to the world of professional golf, participating with his father in the PNC Championship for the past four years, as reported by the AP. It is anticipated that the father-son team will return to the championship in December.

Charlie made it to his first-ever USGA Championship in June. When he first joined the PGA Tour, he told reporters that his goal was to win the U.S. Open.

He remarked, “The USGA means a lot to me.” “My goals are to win USGA Championships and, ideally, the U.S. Open.”

At the Eagle Trace Golf Club in Coral Springs, Florida, the adolescent shot a 1-under par round of 71, earning a spot in his first amateur competition.

Charlie has been playing golf more often this year as he starts to establish himself in the sport that his 48-year-old father has largely defined and dominated for the past thirty years.
