After a heartbreaking Olympic loss, Alcaraz sends a nice note of gratitude to Rafael Nadal

The American fourth seeds Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram upset Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz in the doubles quarterfinals, ending their hopes of earning an Olympic gold medal.

Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz’s dreams of winning an Olympic medal were dashed in the doubles quarterfinals as they were defeated by American fourth seeds Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram.

One of the primary draws of Roland Garros tennis event, the Spanish pair was cheered by a sizable crowd under the dome of Court Philippe Chatrier.

Nevertheless, two of the best doubles players in the world, Krajicek and Ram, demonstrated their mettle in the format by winning 6-2 6-4 this time, matching them in the match.

Nadal was hoping for a third medal to round off his Olympic career after winning gold in both the singles and doubles categories. He and Alcaraz, though, were unable to defeat a formidable doubles combo.

When discussing it, Rafael Nadal stated: “It was disappointing not to bring home a medal for Spain, but that’s it.” Even though I gave it my all every minute I was on the court, it was insufficient to help us reach our objectives. That was an incredible feeling and sentiment, if it was the last. Every moment I’m on the court, they show me love and support. To sense that specifically here is something very, very special. At this point in my career, I play more for feelings than for outcomes; I play for feelings.

“Thank you very much, Rafa, for this week and for sharing a clue with me while playing for Spain!” Alcaraz said on X in response to Nadal’s defeat. I’m taking a lot of stuff for the future, even though today couldn’t be! It’s been truly unique!
