Former NDSU linebacker Jabril Cox has joined the Minnesota Vikings as he prepares for his fourth NFL season

FARGO — Jabril Cox, previously a linebacker for North Dakota State University, has signed with the Minnesota Vikings, the team announced on Thursday, July 25.

Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 235 pounds, Cox spent last season with the Washington Commanders and the two seasons before that with the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys drafted him in the fourth round (115th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Cox played for North Dakota State for three seasons, from 2017-2019, participating in 45 games. The Bison won the NCAA Division I FCS national championships in each of those seasons.

During his NDSU career, Cox recorded 258 total tackles, including 14 sacks, and had six interceptions.

The Bison currently have 16 former players on NFL rosters, including Cox.

Cox transferred to Louisiana State University before the 2020 season to complete his college career. He played in 10 games for LSU during a season affected by COVID-19, recording 58 total tackles and three interceptions. LSU competes in the Southeastern Conference.

Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Cox played in 26 NFL games over his first three seasons, amassing 10 total tackles. He played 511 snaps on special teams and 46 on defense.
