Brandon Beane, general manager of the Buffalo Bills, did not take Josh Allen’s recent taunt lightly.
This month, ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler ranked the top 10 quarterbacks in the NFL in a piece he published. Votes from a variety of NFL executives, coaches, and scouts determined the list. The voters’ identities remained anonymous.
Behind Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes, the Bills quarterback came in third place on the list. The article featured a remark from a “veteran NFL executive” in Allen’s section, referring to the 28-year-old as “one of the more overrated players in the NFL.”
Following the Bills’ first training camp practice at Pittsford, New York’s St. John Fisher University on Wednesday, Beane hosted a press conference. Naturally, the general manager of the Bills was questioned about the “overrated” remarks made regarding Allen.
It is annoying. You make an effort to ignore these stuff, Beane remarked. Josh is entering his seventh year, and the doubters persist. It is beyond me. If I were going to use the term “rated,” I would say “underrated” rather than “overrated.”
And I am aware of my bias. We adore him every day and he is our guy. I am aware that people adore these rankings of anybody, but what good are comments like that if you do not sign your name? Who is this executive, exactly? The term “executive” is ambiguous. I wish the author would refrain from making remarks like that. Idiots are present everywhere.

Beane went on to say that since Allen was selected in the 2018 NFL Draft, there have been unfavorable perceptions about him. However, Beane and probably every other Bills supporter agree that Allen’s advantages exceed his disadvantages by a wide margin.
In the last four seasons, Allen has placed among the top five candidates for NFL MVP, and he has received two career Pro Bowl selections.
In defense of Allen, Beane has never shied away from a fiery soundbite. Beane’s remark about trading for Allen back in 2018 went viral on social media earlier this year.
