Nadal comes through practice session after thigh injury scare

The Spaniard is anticipated to partner with Carlos Alcaraz in the doubles, but it is unclear if he will play in the singles.

Fans of Rafael Nadal appear to have good news during the Olympics in Paris.

The 22-time Grand Slam champion improved his chances of being fit for the Games in Paris, which start on Saturday, after a successful practice session on Friday with partner Carlos Alcaraz.

Following the cancellation of practice on Thursday, the 38-year-old had raised concerns that he would have to withdraw—concerns that his coach, Carlos Moya, did not downplay. And despite having strapping on his right thigh, Nadal made an impression practicing with the recent Wimbledon victor.

Thursday’s missed practice raised concerns.

On Friday, the mood was considerably better than it had been the day before, when Moya had questioned if Nadal would be ready for his singles.

As reported by the Evening Standard, Moya told reporters, “I can not say for sure that Nadal will play.” “We would like to give him a 48-hour period to assess his progress and recuperation. If all goes according to plan, he will return to the court on Saturday.”

On Saturday, Nadal and Alcaraz are scheduled to compete in the doubles against Argentina’s Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni. The 2008 Olympic winner is scheduled to take on Marton Fucsovics of Hungary in the first round of the tournament, if he is well enough to play singles. The top seed Novak Djokovic may be up next.
