“I was wheeled away in anger” – Amorim was furious with Man Utd star after what he did v Spurs

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim was visibly frustrated after Alejandro Garnacho squandered a golden opportunity against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.

Garnacho has been struggling for form, having failed to register a goal or assist in recent matches. The 20-year-old was also the subject of transfer speculation during the January window, which could be affecting his performances.

With Marcus Rashford leaving for Aston Villa on loan, Garnacho faces increased pressure to step up, as Amorim has limited attacking options. His missed chance against Spurs was a crucial moment to regain confidence, but his finishing let him down.

According to The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell, Amorim reacted angrily after watching Garnacho send his shot over the bar from close range. The chance came after a brilliant run from Rasmus Hojlund, who created space for Bruno Fernandes to deliver a precise pass into the box. However, Garnacho failed to capitalize, blasting the ball into the stands.

“Amorim wheeled away in anger when Garnacho skied that shot. Glorious chance created by Hojlund’s run to create space and Fernandes’ sharp pass. Garnacho has to score,” Whitwell wrote on X.
