The Miami Dolphins watched as other clubs signed their quarterbacks to massive deal extensions this offseason, making headlines around the NFL. Although Tua Tagovailoa is still without a long-term deal, talks are supposedly moving along nicely.
A year earlier, Miami showed no interest in extending their deal. Despite leading the NFL in passing efficiency and assisting the squad in making the playoffs, Tagovailoa sustained multiple concussions. The front staff of the Dolphins was genuinely worried about his long-term health and wanted to wait until 2023 for him to establish himself.
Delivered was Tagovailoa. In addition to leading the NFL in passing yards, the 26-year-old quarterback was selected to his first Pro Bowl. In addition, he started each of the team’s 17 regular-season games. With an 11-6 record, he helped Miami into the playoffs two years in a row.
The Dolphins met with negotiators one more during the offseason. Nonetheless, the highest-paid NFL players’ pay are blowing up due to the league’s explosive revenue growth. Miami finds itself in a situation where it must pay significantly more than anticipated, but negotiations are in progress.

In an appearance on SportsCenter, ESPN’s NFL writer Jeff Darlington stated that although talks about a new contract between Tagovailoa and the Dolphins are ongoing, one is not anticipated to be signed before the start of training camp.
