The Dallas Mavericks have utilized one of their two-way contract slots on young guard Brandon Williams from Arizona, as reported by Austin Veazey 21 hours ago.

The Mavericks have made significant offseason additions, including Klay Thompson and Naji Marshall, leaving them with one open roster spot. While they decide how to fill that spot, they have re-signed Brandon Williams to a two-way contract. Williams, who originally signed the same deal in December of the past season, averaged 24.1 PPG in seven games for their G-League affiliate and 3.2 PPG in limited playtime for the Mavericks in 17 games.
Williams played college basketball at Arizona and went undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft. He has since played for the Westchester Knicks, College Park Skyhawks, and Osceola Magic. The Mavericks picked him up after he averaged 22.4 PPG in the G-League Showcase for Osceola. While with College Park, he played alongside current Maverick A.J. Lawson.
A two-way contract allows players to split their time between the NBA and the G-League, with a cap on the number of days they can spend in the NBA. This arrangement provides teams an opportunity to closely monitor the development of their young players.
