This past weekend, Simone Biles achieved two goals: moral and gymnastic.
She added another gold medal to her collection and told her marriage’s detractors to “respectfully, fuck off.”
The 27-year-old Biles defeated other Olympians Suni Lee and Gabby Douglas to take first place in the 2024 Core Hydration Gymnastics Classic on Saturday in Hartford, Connecticut. The three elite gymnasts are competing at the same meet for the first time. Biles honored her husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens, with a heartfelt Instagram post.
This was interpreted by some fans as meaning that he didn’t think Biles was a catch in her own right. This weekend, Biles had had enough of the conversation.
“I’ll get right to this; the joke was never funny! “You guys are openly showing disrespect for my spouse and our relationship,” she stated on Sunday on her Instagram Story. I’m going to state this one time now. Be respectful and screw off.
She was also prepared with an action plan for expected answers.
“And I’ll just block you if you keep tweeting or leaving comments for me. Just like that, she wrote. “And no, I don’t need to touch the grass or anything else you guys suggest. Thank you so much to everyone else who helps us out.”
Screengrabbling Biles’ tirade, Owens created his own Stories.
“If you’re going to help, help! If not, just continue scrolling,” he stated. “It’s weird behavior to be so fake angry about people you don’t know from a can of paint,”
He added more pictures of his wife performing and published the same picture of the two kissing on his grid as Biles.
He wrote, “Still in awe of last night,” as the carousel’s caption. “One more!!! I love being able to watch you go out there and do what you do; you just never stop amazing me, darling. I would not miss it for the world, and I am here to support you every step of the way.
He also uploaded a video of himself clapping and leaping out of his seat in response to Biles’s vault.
Although this is the toughest wording she has used about it so far, Biles has replied to criticism of her husband before. She made it clear during her April appearance on Call Her Daddy that “that interview had nothing to do with me.”
She remarked, “He never said I wasn’t a catch.” He was right when he said he was a catch. He is unlike any man I have ever encountered. Many individuals who meet him comment on how amazing they find him. That’s the kind of man I want, Jonathan.”
