Before the 2024 NFL season starts, a former member of the New Orleans Saints might not sign with another team

Michael Thomas was not re-signed by the New Orleans Saints during the free agency period. They offered the wideout a revised, one-year contract for 2023 before making that choice.

Given that Thomas only started seven games all season, that contract was essentially a waste.

It became evident after the season that a reunion was not in the cards. Many people predicted that he would sign with another NFL team rather fast, but nothing materialized earlier in the summer.

The experienced wide receiver’s level of interest within the league is unknown.

Will Thomas sign a preseason contract with an NFL team? It seems like he is running out of time. It will soon be preseason—less than two weeks away. The training camp has already started.

In 2024, Michael Thomas is still unsigned during the NFL training camp.
Throughout the 2023 season, the seasoned wide receiver had several outbursts on social media, most of which were directed at the Saints franchise. During his stint in black and gold, there were medical conflicts as well as decisions made by the coaching staff that he was obviously unhappy with.

Not to add, Thomas made several subtle jabs at quarterback Derek Carr. Thomas has never been one to hold back when expressing his opinions. Regardless matter the team, if any, he plays for, that is not going to change anytime soon.

Does he not lose anything from his antics off the field? Though Thomas has not been available lately, it is still conceivable. Given his history of injuries, it is possible that he is requesting more money than teams are willing to give him.

After playing just seven games for New Orleans in 2020, Thomas was sidelined for the entirety of the 2021 campaign. He participated in thirteen games for the Saints overall between 2022 and 2023.

Overall, it is intriguing that there has not been much of a buzz about Thomas in the offseason. Most of the time, he has not said anything on social media, and no reports have found any teams that are particularly connected to him.

We shall see whether someone offers him a chance in 2024, but the likelihood of that scenario growing dimmer by the day. Because of injuries to their wide receiver group, Thomas might need to sign a cheap contract with a team during the season.
