Dak Prescott and the Cowboys had a terrible day in the media.
The talented quarterback Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys is getting ready for what might be a pivotal 2024 season as they head into training camp. For Prescott, who turns 31 on July 29, this year could be crucial because his contract is about to expire. He has not been able to secure a successful playoff run with the Cowboys despite his best efforts.
The 2016 NFL MVP runner-up is aware of the pressure he is under in his contract year, particularly in light of the Cowboys’ recent struggles in the postseason.
At Thursday’s media session at Cowboys training camp in Southern California, Prescott responded bluntly to irate Cowboys supporters. He gave a strikingly frank response when asked what he would say to people who were still aggrieved about the January loss to Green Bay.

I apologize, but we were harmed more than they were. Of course, it is our responsibility to improve and bounce back, but let us go on, Prescott said.
The Cowboys had a dismal season last year even though they led the league in scoring at the end of the season with a 12-5 record. In the NFC Wild Card Playoffs, they were defeated 48–32 by the Green Bay Packers, despite Prescott throwing two interceptions in front of the home crowd. This loss came after the team’s consecutive postseason setbacks to the San Francisco 49ers.
Given that the team has not advanced to the NFC Championship Game since the end of the 1995 season, Dallas supporters have good right to be angry. Being an MVP candidate, Prescott’s postseason record is uncharacteristically low at 2-5.
Prescott is aware that he will be closely watched this season because to his lackluster postseason performance. But he is optimistic and eager to show off his progress, assuring supporters that they will witness a better version of him on the pitch.

With the star quarterback from Dallas entering the final year of his deal, Prescott may be feeling the pressure at this point. Given that no extension was agreed upon in the offseason, the outcome of the 2024 season may put his future with the Cowboys in risk.
Prescott, who signed a four-year, $160 million contract in March 2020, is scheduled to play out the last year of the agreement. It was hoped that by now an extension would be finalized, but negotiations are still going on.
While Prescott wants to remain one of the most paid players in the game, the Cowboys want a deal that will help the club.
Prescott makes an average of $40 million annually, but eleven quarterbacks make more money. At $55 million a season, Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence are at the top of the list. The yearly average salary of Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, Justin Herbert, and Jared Goff is more than $50 million.
Prescott is anticipated to sign a contract worth more than $50 million, possibly even $60 million, in the future. Another team might make this offer if the Cowboys don’t.
Dallas is not considered a contender for the NFC crown this year, therefore Prescott and the Cowboys will be watching this season’s conclusion closely.
