To ensure a long NFL career, it’s crucial to take care of your body, and Tyreek Hill took extraordinary steps to do that this offseason. The Dolphins receiver disclosed this week that he recently traveled to the Caribbean for a stem cell treatment.
Hill underwent this treatment to improve blood flow and enhance his durability.
“Stem cells have been great,” Hill said this week. “I just got back from Antigua [on Monday], where I received stem cell treatment, and it’s been amazing. It helps regenerate some of the cells in my body and provides the correct blood flow I need. So that’s been great.”
The Dolphins star turned 30 this offseason, an age when players at his position might begin to slow down, but he’s clearly doing everything possible to prevent that. However, it’s uncertain how effective this specific treatment is. Stem cell treatments have not been approved by the FDA in the United States, which is why Hill had to go to Antigua. There isn’t extensive research on the benefits of stem cell therapy for athletes, but several current and former NFL players, including 49ers tight end George Kittle, believe in its effectiveness.
One of the most notable players to undergo stem cell therapy was Peyton Manning, who had a treatment on his neck in 2011.
For Hill, the experimental treatment is about extending his career. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining his body in peak condition to continue playing at a high level.
“I feel like I’m going to be training my whole life because every year I have to prove something to people,” Hill said. “Many people think I shouldn’t be doing what I’m doing because of my size and stature. But, as Tom Brady said, you don’t have to be the best, strongest, or tallest; as long as you stay consistent in what you do every day, you’ll be all right. And I feel that’s who I’ve been my entire career.”
Entering his ninth NFL season and after achieving a career-high 1,799 receiving yards in 2023, Hill shows no signs of slowing down
