A former Manchester United player has shared his thoughts as Marcus Rashford begins to show glimpses of his best form since joining Aston Villa on loan. While some have questioned whether letting Rashford leave Old Trafford was a mistake, one ex-United star believes it’s too early to make such a judgment.
The 27-year-old has shown flashes of his former brilliance since starting his loan spell with Villa earlier this month. Rashford played a key role in Villa’s draw with Ipswich Town on Saturday, coming close to scoring with a free-kick that hit the woodwork, which Ollie Watkins later followed up. Rashford’s improvement in form since leaving United has sparked criticism of Ruben Amorim for potentially misjudging the situation after sidelining him. The sentiment has only grown stronger following Amad’s injury, as Rashford could have been a potential replacement for him on the wing at United.
However, former United goalkeeper Ben Foster believes such judgments are being made prematurely, given there are still three months left in the season. Although Foster recognizes that Rashford seems happier at Villa Park, he stood by his opinion on his Fozcast podcast.
The ex-Wrexham keeper remarked, “I still think it’s a bit too early to jump on the bandwagon. Everyone’s eager to say, ‘They’ve made a mistake sending him out. What were they thinking? He should be doing this at Manchester United.'”
