“He is something else” – Journalist shares how Amorim is treating Man Utd players behind the scenes

Ben Jacobs has revealed in an exclusive interview that Manchester United’s top players will be on the fringes of the first team if they don’t fit in with manager Ruben Amorim’s preferred style of play. The Portuguese manager isn’t hesitant to cut players out of his plans if they don’t fit in.

After Erik ten Hag was fired from Sporting at Old Trafford, Amorim joined the team in early November. Despite having a somewhat successful debut in the Red Devils’ dugout, he has only won seven points from his last nine Premier League games in charge, which has caused them to drop to 15th place in the top flight standings.

Importantly, Amorim has removed key players from his plans at that time, most notably Marcus Rashford, who was loaned to Aston Villa, and Antony, who was temporarily sent to Real Betis in an attempt to regain his form. However, his choices have not been reflected in on-field success.

Jacobs said exclusively

“This is not, as far as I’m aware by speaking to sources, going to be a case of players being able to sit it out and outlast a Manchester United manager like we’ve seen in the past.

“Amorim has been told that there is a five-window initial plan, in which the expectation is that he is going to be given a similar period of time to get things right.

“So the players are kind of going to have to adapt and, to an extent, buy into Amorim’s style and philosophy. If they don’t, they’re going to find out very quickly – as Marcus Rashford did as well – that the manager will simply persist and ultimately pick the players that day in, day out, he believes are trying to adapt to his system.”

According to Fichajes, Manchester United are already exploring potential replacements for Ruben Amorim, citing his struggles to establish a clear playing identity and deliver consistent results.

While INEOS currently intends to keep the 40-year-old in charge until the end of the season, that stance could change if the situation deteriorates further, potentially forcing drastic action before then.

The report claims United’s hierarchy has already begun assessing managerial alternatives ahead of the summer, with a clear priority: finding a coach capable of turning the club into a serious force in European football.

Among the potential candidates mentioned are Zinedine Zidane, Thomas Tuchel, and Mauricio Pochettino, all of whom bring extensive experience at the highest level.

Given INEOS’ swift and decisive approach—evidenced by their rapid dismissal of Dan Ashworth after a prolonged pursuit—it wouldn’t be surprising if Amorim’s tenure is cut short sooner than expected if results don’t improve.
