Expert calls it “explosive.” Man City player might give up Full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold

It’s possible that Jeremy Doku will end Trent Alexander-Arnold’s full-back career.

This weekend’s Premier League match between Manchester City and Liverpool could potentially decide Alexander-Arnold’s long-term playing destination, according to former Aston Villa and Liverpool attacker Stan Collymore.

The Reds, who are presently ranked second and only one point behind their opponents on Saturday, will be vying for the top spot in the table when they travel to Manchester to play the treble winners of the previous season.

Still, it will be difficult for the giants of Merseyside. With 21 goals scored in their last six games across all competitions, Manchester City has proven to be a formidable force.

The club’s biggest threat is Jeremy Doku, a summer addition. Less than six months ago, the Belgian moved from Stade Rennes to the Premier League, and he has made a quick transition. In his first 14 games, the 21-year-old international has already scored three goals and provided six assists.

Stan Collymore has made statements regarding Trent Alexander-Arnold.

In addition to being a huge fan of the Belgian, Collymore is concerned that Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool might not be able to handle the “explosive” wide player, which would lead to Alexander-Arnold being perceived as a player more fit for midfield than full-back.

In an exclusive interview, he stated, “I am really, really looking forward to seeing how Trent Alexander-Arnold deals with the likes of Jeremy Doku.”

“Doku appears to be among the nation’s most intriguing wingers. He’s explosive, nimble on the ball, and capable of both creating and scoring goals for himself. Another excellent purchase from City.

But is Alexander-Arnold capable of handling him? I doubt he will be able to. Time will tell, of course, but I believe that Jurgen Klopp’s decision to give Alexander-Arnold the go-ahead to handle Doku alone could be the undoing of the Reds, as Liverpool cannot afford to risk having a midfielder out of position to assist with double up. They risk being overrun in the middle of the park if they do that, and you might as well forget about playing against City, who have players like Bernardo Silva and Rodri.Jeremy Doku says Manchester City need to keep proving they are the 'best team' | beIN SPORTS

Therefore, it will be fascinating to observe how each side approaches those broad positions. Either Alexander-Arnold will defy his doubters—including myself—and hold players like Doku at bay for the duration of the match, or he will clearly establish himself as a midfield player. Unquestionably worth seeing this weekend.

The Premier League match on Saturday is set to begin at 12.30 p.m. (UK time) and will be televised live on TNT Sports.
