Bruno Guimaraes faces a second suspension from Newcastle United.

Bruno Guimaraes faces a second Newcastle United suspension following incidents in the Champions League.
Bruno Guimaraes: £40 million The Newcastle United midfielder faces a Champions League suspension.
Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle United returned from a one-match suspension in the Premier League against Chelsea on Saturday, but he faces another suspension in the Champions League.

Guimaraes has been booked five times in the Premier League this season, earning him a one-game suspension that he served in the 2-0 loss to Bournemouth earlier this month. However, he was booked twice in the Champions League for Newcastle against Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund at St James’ Park.

A booking for Guimaraes in Tuesday’s match against PSG at Parc des Princes would result in the player missing Newcastle’s final group stage match against AC Milan next month. The importance of the Milan game at St James’ Park will be heavily influenced by the results on Tuesday.

Eddie Howe’s team needs a win against PSG to stay in the competition. A win would give them a realistic chance of progressing to the final group stage match against AC Milan at home, whereas a draw in Paris would leave them reliant on other results heading into the final group stage matchday.

If Newcastle loses and AC Milan fails to beat Borussia Dortmund, they will face the Serie A side in the final group stage match for Europa League qualification. Players who are booked three times before the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final are barred from competing for one match. Guimaraes has started each of Newcastle’s four Champions League games this season

As tensions rose, glasses were smashed and windows were broken, with groups of people wearing hooded jackets accused of roaming the streets looking for Newcastle fans.

‘Stay safe in Paris tonight,’ said the Newcastle United Supporters’ Club. Stick together and look out for one another.’

In an effort to reduce violence ahead of tonight’s match, police previously advised that pubs designated for away fans close early to reduce the risk of clashes, according to MailOnline.

Concerns were raised after PSG fans were involved in incidents in the United Kingdom following the two clubs’ first meeting, which Newcastle won 4-1.
