Tottenham have taken a step back under Australian Harry Redknapp.

Tottenham slip back under Australian Harry Redknapp 1 Reply While researching this morning’s blog, I noticed something. After 13 games in 2022/23, Tottenham were on 26 points and third in the league. 12 months later, they are on 26 points and fifth in the league. Ange Postecoglou has shown this Tottenham team has the potential to be something special was one headline as the Australian coach won three Manager of the Month awards in a row.

I stated at the time that winning three MOTMs in a row means nothing if the team does not win anything. Tottenham supporters retorted, but I suppose they are used to celebrating individual success while their team wins nothing.

Despite boasting about how much better they are this year than last, they have fallen behind where they were in 2022/23.

They have the same number of points as last season, but they are two places lower. They’ve also only scored one more goal, which begs the question of why they’re saying things like “Ange’s attacking football is welcome relief after Conte’s defensive game.” They also have a lower goal differential.

Following Ange’s strong start, Tottenham fans began to chime in with their “we got our Tottenham back” chants. Your Tottenham, on the other hand, never really took off. You have always been an upper-mid-table team that

Since the start of the Premier League, their average finish has been between 7th and 8th. That average has risen to between sixth and seventh place under Daniel Levy’s leadership.

They had a golden period under Poch, finishing third, second, and third, but they never won anything. These finishes led their fans to get a little too big for their boots. And since finishing 3rd in 2018, there average has been 6th.

5th in the league and 3 defeats in a row – 2 at home. This is your Tottenham Hotspur. Manchester City is up next…

Meanwhile, Arsenal has been abysmal this season. Massive step backwards. Mikel Arteta has been discovered. Ange has accomplished more in four months than the Spanaird has in four years. Over the summer, £200 million was squandered. We lead the league…

It demonstrates how the media can have an impact on events.

They portray Ange as a managerial great, when in reality he is just an Australian Harry Redknapp (average manager with a good soundbite). Meanwhile, they attempt to make Arteta appear clueless and out of his depth.

We are unlikely to win the championship this year, but we will be in contention. Tottenham, on the other hand, will be fighting for fifth or sixth place.

Postecoglou set a new record by winning his third MOTM in a row. As things stand, he’s on pace to match Martin Jol’s 40-game season!
