Dak Prescott makes MVP case as Dallas Cowboys hold off Seattle Seahawks

Dak Prescott threw three touchdown passes as the Dallas Cowboys extended their home winning streak to 14 games on Thursday night, rallying for a 41-35 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

Dallas (9-3) set up a rematch with NFC East rivals Philadelphia with a 12-yard pass to Jake Ferguson with four and a half minutes remaining, avoiding what would have been their first loss since falling to the Eagles 28-23 to begin November.

As the Seahawks (6-6) got their offense back on track, Geno Smith threw three touchdown passes to DK Metcalf, including a 73-yarder. However, Seattle couldn’t avoid a third straight loss, dropping to.500 for the first time since splitting the first two games of the season.

Dallas’ Brandon Aubrey made four field goals, extending his NFL record of 26 consecutive makes to begin a career.

This is the fifth time in NFL history that neither team punted. The Dallas defense, which came in ranked third in the NFL, got fourth-down conversions on the Seahawks’ final three possessions as the Cowboys maintained their best home winning streak since an 18-game run at old Texas Stadium from 1979 to 1981.

When Zach Charbonnet was stopped on fourth-and-1 from the Dallas 46, the Cowboys trailed 35-30. Ferguson scored seven plays later, and Prescott hit Brandin Cooks for the two-point conversion. Cooks also caught a touchdown pass in the second quarter.

CeeDee Lamb added another touchdown catch to his 12 catches for 116 yards, and his 24-yard run on a jet sweep set up Aubrey’s final field goal to put Dallas up by six points. Smith threw an incomplete pass on fourth down near midfield with 3:11 remaining.

With 1:11 remaining, the Seahawks reached midfield, but Micah Parsons’ pressure on fourth down forced Smith to throw the ball into the ground, sealing the Dallas victory.

Metcalf had a season-high 134 yards on six catches in his second career three-TD game, as the Seahawks scored touchdowns on five of their first seven possessions after going 20 possessions without an offensive touchdown.

Smith also scored on the ground and through the air.
