Nashville’s power play went 0 for 1. Although Buffalo did not have a power play, Olofsson’s goal was scored on a penalty shot.

At 9:40 of the first period, Forsberg gave the Predators a 1-0 lead. He got to the puck immediately after Nashville won a faceoff in the left circle and fired a wrist shot that deflected in off the post for his 13th goal of the season.

Trenin made it 2-0 just over a minute later, redirecting Colton Sissons’ shot past Luukkonen after the Sabres turned the puck over in their own end.

At 10:02 of the second period, Olofsson pulled the Sabres within 2-1. Olofsson was awarded a penalty shot after Jeremy Lauzon tripped him during a breakaway and beat Saros. It was Olofsson’s second penalty-shot goal of the season.
