Former Georgia quarterback Brock Vandagriff has committed two days after entering the transfer portal.

On Wednesday, the former 5-star prospect committed to Kentucky.

Following the departures of Will Levis and Devin Leary in recent seasons, Kentucky will once again turn to a transfer portal quarterback.

Vandagriff, a former five-star prospect who was the No. 22 overall recruit and No. 4 quarterback prospect in the 2021 cycle, will have two years of eligibility remaining.Georgia Football QB Brock Vandagriff Enters the NCAA Transfer Portal - Sports Illustrated Georgia Bulldogs News, Analysis and More

Vandagriff sat behind Stetson Bennett in 2021 and 2022 at Georgia before taking over for Carson Beck this season. During his time at Georgia, he completed 12 of his 20 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns.

Georgia is coming off a 27-24 loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game. The defeat ended the two-time defending champion’s 29-game winning streak. The loss eliminated Georgia from the College Football Playoff.

No. 6 Georgia (12-1) will face No. 5 Florida (12-1). Florida State (13-0) will play in the Orange Bowl on Dec. 30 after both programs felt they deserved a chance to compete for the national championship.

Former Georgia backup quarterback Brock Vandagriff will transfer to Kentucky as a graduate transfer for his final two seasons of eligibility. Vandagriff announced his decision on X on Monday, thanking Bulldogs teammates, coaches, and fans. On Wednesday, he was superimposed in blue-and-white Kentucky gear with the caption “Committed” and the comment “Ready to get to work.” “I really like what they do on offense and believe it will get me ready for the next level, which has always been my goal,” Vandagriff told On3’s Chad Simmons. “I had a great time talking basketball with Coach [Liam] Coen and Coach [Mark] Stoops.”Liam Coen's success helps Kentucky land Brock Vandagriff | Lexington Herald Leader

“I’m just excited to get in there and start working.” Ready to meet my new teammates, learn this offense, and play this spring!” Vandagriff appeared in over ten games as a reserve quarterback for the Bulldogs over three seasons in Athens. In 2023, he served as Caron Beck’s backup. Vandagriff is expected to be Kentucky’s third starting quarterback from the transfer portal. He resembles Will Levis, the Tennessee Titans’ rookie starting quarterback who transferred from Penn State and played two years at Kentucky. This year’s starter, Devin Leary, transferred from North Carolina State.

In eight games as Beck’s backup, Vandagriff completed 12 of 18 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns. He departs just as the No. 6 Bulldogs (No. 6 CFP) prepare to face No. 4 Florida State in the Orange Bowl outside of the College Football Playoff, but he will join a Wildcats program that is looking for a replacement for Devin Leary, a North Carolina State transfer who has led them to a 7-5 record and a Gator Bowl appearance against Clemson. Vandagriff will be one of the most sought-after players in the transfer portal when he arrives at Kentucky. As a transfer, he was rated as a four-star player by 247Sports, ranking as the No. 6 quarterback and No. 17 overall player in the portal. Vandagriff’s father, Greg, was a football player at Tennessee Wesleyan, and his mother, Anna, was a basketball player at Southern Union. AG Vandagriff, his sister, is a sophomore at Eastern Kentucky University and a member of the volleyball team. Stoops stated earlier this week that recruiting high school players and addressing the team’s immediate needs through the transfer portal are his top priorities.

“It’s pretty much 24/7,” he explained. “It does kill me once in a while, when guys I’ve known for 10 years and good friends of mine that are in town and I love them, they are dear friends – ‘Hey coach, you wanna go do this?'”You have no idea how busy I am right now. It’s literally 24/7 right now. Everyone thinks it ends at the end of the season, but the busiest time of the season is probably between now and December 20, when we get a little break before Christmas. It’s 24 hours a day, seven days a week until December 20.”
