As he aids us in continuing our program’s ascent, Rick’s perspective as a former player and head coach for nearly two decades will be valuable. It’s unmistakable the amount Florida State means to Rick, and I’m invigorated we had this chance to take him back to the Nole Family.

Stockstill became the head coach of MTSU in 2006. Over the course of his 18 seasons, Stockstill went 113-111. This incorporates a 82-58 gathering mark. In 2022, his Blue Raiders defeated Miami 45-31, a victory the FSU alumnus was extremely proud of at the time.

Stockstill was a six-time mentor of the year during his time at MTSU, and was known for delivering passing-driven offenses.

During his time at Florida State from 1977 to 1981, he helped the Seminoles win multiple games against teams ranked in the Top 10 as the program rose to national prominence.

“I’m exceptionally thankful and lowered for this potential chance to join Mentor Norvell and his staff,” Stockstill said. ” For me and many other former players, it has been rewarding to watch him develop this program and get to know him personally. I’m excited to be back at a place that means so much to me because my time at Florida State University was crucial to my growth as a person and as a professional. I’m anticipating adding to the pattern of influencing others as a component of a generally fruitful staff.”
