Lucas Paqueta’s Injury Leaves David Moyes in Uncertainty as West Ham Braces for Anxious Wait.

Lucas Paqueta’s recovery from injury is still not officially scheduled by West Ham, and the manager, David Moyes, has acknowledged that the Brazilian’s calf issue may be more difficult to treat than initially believed.

Since hobbling off early in the FA Cup third round match against Bristol City at the beginning of the month due to a recurrence of an injury sustained in the team’s victory over Arsenal in late December, Paqueta has not played.

Initially, there were worries that the playmaker might be absent for as long as two months. However, Paqueta downplayed such worries and has since shared several videos on social media showing his recovery, giving supporters optimism for a prompt recovery.

The 26-year-old, who hasn’t returned to training yet, won’t be involved in either the weekend’s trip to Manchester United or Thursday night’s Premier League matchup with Bournemouth.

“Paqueta has returned to Rush Green after being away in Madrid,” Moyes stated on Wednesday. He’s been rescanned, but I can’t provide a complete update as I don’t know everything. That’s as much as I know.”

When asked if treating the injury was becoming more difficult than initially anticipated, Moyes replied, “Maybe, yeah, maybe.” But as a youngster, he may return at any time and without warning. I have no idea how he is right now or how he feels about anything. Michail Antonio, a striker, does not yet appear to be close to returning to the first team; he has not resumed contact training.

Since sustaining a knee injury while on international duty during the November break, Antonio has been unable to return to action.

According to Moyes, “Antonio is back doing straight-line running but not training with the team.” “He’s not with the team; he’s still with the medical team. He’s on the ball, just straight-line running.”

West Ham Maintains Uncertain Timeline for Lucas Paqueta’s Return Amid Calf Injury Complications

West Ham continues to withhold a definitive return date for Lucas Paqueta, with manager David Moyes expressing concerns over the complexity of the Brazilian playmaker’s calf problem. Paqueta, sidelined since the FA Cup third-round draw against Bristol City, faces an extended absence, challenging initial expectations of a two-month recovery. Despite Paqueta’s optimistic rehab updates on social media, the 26-year-old remains out of training and will miss upcoming Premier League fixtures. Moyes provided a limited update on Paqueta’s status, emphasizing ongoing medical assessments. Meanwhile, striker Michail Antonio’s return is also uncertain, with the Jamaican yet to resume contact training following a knee injury sustained in November.
