The greatest player from oilers is out of a season due to injury

Had they found a way to score a second goal during the first period of last night’s game – they could be celebrating number 17 today. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be as the Oilers eventually found themselves on the wrong side of a 3-1 defeat. As usual, Stuart Skinner stood on his head for the majority of the game.
He was only beaten twice (the third goal was of the empty net variety) on 26 shots. Skinner has been phenomenal for 13 straight games. And for the record so has Calvin Pickard. However the Oilers have been able to avoid the injury bug this season. They are one injury away from a catastrophe. No, it’s not Connor McDavid – but Skinner. If Skinner suffers any kind of injury that sidelines him for longer than two weeks – the Oilers would be in a world of hurt. Part of why I say that is because of Skinner’s stellar play. The other reason is because of who is available to replace him on the team.

The Edmonton Oilers’ impressive 16-game winning streak has come to an end. Their hopes for a 17th victory were dashed when they failed to secure a second goal in the first period of last night’s game. Despite goalie Stuart Skinner’s outstanding performance for most of the match, the Oilers succumbed to a 3-1 loss, with the third goal being scored into an empty net. Skinner, who has been exceptional for the past 13 games, faced 26 shots and was only beaten twice. The Copper And Blue 2021 Top 25 Under 25 - #1 Connor McDavid - The Copper & Blue

Calvin Pickard also deserves recognition for his consistent performance. However, the Oilers’ luck with injuries has held so far this season, but they remain vulnerable. It’s not star player Connor McDavid who poses the biggest injury risk, but rather Skinner. If Skinner were to sustain an injury sidelining him for more than two weeks, the Oilers would face significant challenges. This is not only due to Skinner’s outstanding form but also because of the lack of equally capable replacements on the team.
