Awoniyi scored the second goal in Forest’s 2-0 victory over the Hammers at the City Ground.

The Nigeria international was substituted by Divock Origi in the 67th minute.

“We need to assess him and see how he is. We all know he’s been struggling for a while and hasn’t played much,” Santo told Derby Unifoot.

“We pushed him, and he went above and beyond his responsibilities. We hope it’s not serious.”

Awoniyi has suffered with injuries since joining Nottingham Forest in 2022.

The 26-year-old just returned to action after having surgery to repair a groin issue.

The Tricky Trees attacker has six goals in 14 league games this season.
