commanders key is off for a season

With the NFL scouting combine starting next week and a fan-led debate about what the Commanders should do with the second overall pick in the draft, I decided to take off my writing hat and channel Adam Peters for the day.

The best aspect of the offseason for Washington is not only the aforementioned draft pick(s), but the team will have the most cap space when the new league year begins in March, and based on the present roster, they will need to spend a substantial portion of it just to be competitive again.

Below is my hypothetical offseason, which includes potential cuts, veteran re-signings, free agent acquisitions, a mock draft, and what the two-deep roster will look like afterward.

Adisa Isaac, EDGE, Penn State. Isaac possesses the size and flexibility to be a force in the NFL. He performs a good job converting speed to power, and his motor runs nonstop.

Round 3
Xavier Legette, WR, South Carolina – Legette is the big-bodied wide receiver that teams want. He has incredible speed and simply needs to work on his route-running to become devastating.

Junior Colson, LB, Michigan – Colson is a huge inside linebacker with speed and agility to spare. He helped Michigan have one of the best defenses in college football the last two seasons, and he’s NFL ready from the start.
