The Dutch forward joined the club last summer for around £3.5 million from Italian club Atalanta. But it hasn’t worked out thus far, with only 31 appearances for Rangers before being loaned to Utrecht.

He was one of former manager Michael Beale’s summer signings, however he fell out of favour when Philippe Clement arrived. He has impressed with some of his Eredivisie outings since returning to his country.

Lammers scored twice with two assists for Rangers and has one goal and three assists in six games for Utrecht. According to sources in the Netherlands, FC Twente could pay £2.5 million for the 26-year-old.

They wanted him last year before he moved to the Rangers. That bid was failed, but they could return to the table following his improved form. His loan at Utrecht does not have a buy option, and FC Twente is in a much stronger financial position to undertake a seven-figure deal.

Former NAC Breda star and Dutch TV analyst Kees Luijckx recently hailed Lammers, saying he has been a breath of new air since returning home. He stated, “Sam Lammers is extremely vital to the squad.Rangers Football Club on X: "💙 #RangersFC are today delighted to announce the signing of Sam Lammers from Atalanta, subject to international clearance on a four year deal. 👉 https://t.co/vMjqmVK7op https://t.co/YRzNY6SmAx" /

“Not only for his goals, but also for Utrecht’s football philosophy. Lammers is just an excellent addition to Utrecht.”
