Good news: He is back

Former head coach Jimmy Johnson and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones appear to have resolved their feud.

Johnson discussed his new, unofficial role with the Cowboys during a recent appearance with Joe Rose on WQAM 560 AM in Miami. He stated that since being inducted into the Ring of Honor, he has become a member of Jones’ advisory board.

Although he does not have an official title, Johnson stated that he is “back in the fold” with the Cowboys. The two-time Super Bowl winner with Dallas even said that he and Jones had a lengthy talk after their Wild Card loss to the Green Bay Packers, with the team owner asking for his opinions on what to do next.

“We were on the phone about an hour after his Green Bay loss, and he was discussing what he needed to do because he had significant decisions to make with Mike McCarthy, Dan Quinn, and Dak Prescott. Everything is OK now. “I’m back with the Cowboys,” Johnson said on the team’s website.

Johnson continues to broadcast and has a deal with FOX Sports. Having said that, he’s unlikely to be on the Cowboys’ official roster. However, this does not exclude him from offering counsel to Jones and the rest of the squad.

During his interview, Jimmy Johnson also spoke about his cooperation with Jerry Jones, when they were continuously competing for Super Bowls together.

Johnson coached the Dallas Cowboys from 1989 to 1993, when the team made three consecutive postseason appearances and won the Super Bowl in 1992 and 1993.Dallas Cowboys, Jimmy Johnson, Jerry Jones

“We were working around the clock together. People are unaware of the relationship we have. Jerry and I used to talk every day. Every day, I would be in his office. “And we never really had a disagreement, which surprises a lot of people, but we were always on the same page,” Johnson said of his time with Jones. “And I believe part of the friction occurred at the end of my tenure with the Cowboys, when we were so busy heading in different directions that we didn’t talk much. My feelings for Jerry have not changed. I adore the dude. He is a significant component, if not the most important, of my entire career.”

It’s unclear how Johnson can help the Cowboys, but given his winning track record, having him advise Jones won’t hurt.
