Jordan Travis, the quarterback for Florida State, supports his team while recovering from a devastating injury.

On Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium, Florida State football quarterback Jordan Travis appeared to have had a catastrophic lower left leg injury versus North Alabama in the first quarter.

The fourth possession of the game for the No. 4 Seminoles ended with an uncomfortable tackle of Travis when he was running 17 yards. Travis’s left leg was gripped beneath his knee, and FSU trainers and doctors responded right away. He lay unconscious for a few minutes before being wheeled off the field.

Before Travis was taken to a waiting ambulance, both teams arrived at midfield to console him while supporters yelled “Jordan Travis.” Travis thanked the supporters and then encouraged his teammates from his hospital bed.

When Tate Rodemaker, the backup quarterback, took over for Travis with the Seminoles behind the Lions 13-0, he completed 13 of 23 throws for 217 yards and two touchdowns as the team won handily, 58-13. Freshman quarterback Brock Glenn of Florida State added three completions for 35 yards and his first-ever NCAA score on the ground.

Travis said, “Congratulations, brother,” as the caption for an Instagram Story in which he was seen resting in a hospital bed and watching the remainder of the game on his phone. Quindarrius Jones’ 50-yard return of a blocked field goal to close out the game was also live-annotated by Travis. “Block that (expletive)… Go score, go score… They blocked the kick.”

After two touchdowns, the Lions jumped out to an early 13-0 lead, but the Seminoles rallied for 58 points in a row to win. They now stand 11-0 for the year.

After the game, Florida State head coach Mike Norvell remarked, “We knew going in that this was going to be Jordan Travis’ last game at Doak S. Campbell Stadium and I wanted to see him have a special game and a special experience.” “It hurts when someone is harmed. It hurts to witness and to have to experience. That child has your heart since he seems to have it all. He is a truly unique young man.”

Regarding Travis’ injuries, Norvell had no update. Next week, Florida State takes on its intrastate foe, Florida.

Four more Florida State football starters appear to be injured as they leave the Orange Bowl.
The inexperienced Seminoles have lost a number of starters to injuries.

Undoubtedly, Florida State would require an extraordinary endeavor to accomplish the seemingly unattainable and surprise the Georgia Bulldogs in the Orange Bowl. But with so many starters and important reserves out of the lineup, the Seminoles were outmatched on both ends of the ball in the first half of the game, which went much worse than expected.

Jordan Travis named Atlantic Coast Conference player of year

To make matters worse, several players who started for Florida State on Saturday afternoon have been sidelined due to injuries, which has forced the coaching staff to delve even deeper into its dwindling depth. Darius Washington, the starting left tackle for the Seminoles, was injured early in the first quarter.

Three more players were knocked out of the game as the hits persisted throughout the second frame. Robert Scott, a redshirt junior offensive lineman from Florida State who had taken Washington’s spot, appeared to be hurt. He was replaced in the game for the remainder of the first half by redshirt freshman Jaylen Early.

Injuries to starter cornerback Fentrell Cypress II and wide receiver Kentron Poitier also occurred in the second quarter. With the help of trainers, both players were forced to return to their locker rooms. It was unclear what was upsetting Cypress II, but Poitier appeared to have been smacked in the face and had a cloth over his nose.

Poitier was replaced by true freshman wide receiver Hykeem Williams, while Quindarrius Jones, a true freshman cornerback, took Cypress’s place. Poitier has caught four passes for 84 yards, tying him for the game’s most receiving yards. In the second quarter, he ran 55 yards to set up Florida State’s only field goal. Before exiting the game, Cypress recorded three tackles.

Starting left guard Casey Roddick hobbled back to the locker room before the offense took the court in the second half. He may have had an injury at some point during the season, but it’s unclear when it happened. He played little in the regular-season finale versus Florida. Roddick was replaced at right guard by D’Mitri Emmanuel, an experienced player, while Keiondre Jones took over.

Together with the team, Scott and Cypress emerged from the tunnel to warm up for the second half. Scott ultimately returned to the game at left tackle. No one saw Poitier emerge from the tunnel.

Jones has made three tackles since entering the game, while Williams has caught one pass for nine yards.

Early in the third quarter, Florida State is behind 49-3. It’s not going to end soon enough.
