|Rachel Daly, an Aston Villa attacker, has been suspended for three matches after admitting to a charge of aggressive conduct, the Football Association confirmed.
The England international seemed to hit Bristol City captain Megan Connolly in the face with her arm late in the first half of Villa’s 2-2 Women’s Super League tie with the Robins on Saturday at Poundland Bescot Stadium.
According to a statement from the FA, Rachel Daly has been suspended for three matches following Aston Villa Women’s game against Bristol City Women in the Women’s Super League on Saturday, February 3.
“Her actions in the 39th minute were not observed by match officials at the time, but they were captured on video, and the FA claimed that they constitute aggressive conduct.
“Rachel Daly subsequently admitted this charge and accepted the automatic penalty for violent conduct.”
Daly will miss Villa’s League Cup quarterfinal against Brighton on Wednesday, as well as WSL games against Tottenham and Liverpool, due to his suspension.
The 32-year-old won the WSL Golden Boot with 22 goals for Villa last season and has six league goals (14 in all competitions) for the club in 2023-24.
