A point raised by Gus Hamer, the Coventry City boss is about replacing the “incredible” Callum O’Hare for a sum of £3.5 million deal..

While delivering an update on Callum O’Hare’s future, Mark Robins has underlined a crucial area that Coventry City wants to bolster in the summer transfer market.

Coventry City manager Mark Robins consoles Callum O'Hare

This season, the well-liked offensive midfielder had his best output in his five years with the Sky Blues, scoring ten goals, including two doubles against Midland rivals Birmingham and Leicester and an FA Cup brace against Sheffield Wednesday, to reach double figures for the first time in his senior career.

However, it appears like the 26-year-old’s home game against QPR on Saturday (12.30pm kickoff) will be his last for the team that he soon fell in love with after joining from Aston Villa, and where the fans have adopted him into their hearts. The player who is not under contract has been given new terms, but he has declined to sign them thus far and is expected to become a free agent.

While concentrating on attempting to close out the season with a strong showing and outcome, Robins has one eye on his summer acquisition, acknowledging: “We need more goals from midfield, and with Callum seemingly moving on, we are looking at that and what happens next.”

“But who knows? Callum might decide he wants to stay at the conclusion of this season, even if I doubt it. We’re not sure yet, though. That’s one of those situations where we can only hope, but in any case, Adi (Viveash) and I have discussed what we can do, what we have in the building, how we’re going to approach things, and shifting our focus. We will strive to improve where we can.

Not to give too much away, but we’re working hard on it, so that’s where we’re concentrating our attention. To be fair, we will take a holiday, but aside from that, we will be working all summer long.

When asked if he thought O’Hare would find it difficult to find love and devotion from Sky Blues supporters at any other team, the manager responded, “I think the Coventry supporters have been brilliant with every player.” They develop deep affection for some athletes and stick with them.

That’s definitely the case with Callum, who has grown tremendously over the past four or five years, and it’s all due to his unique personality. They recognize that lively personality of his when they first meet him, and he is the same person off the field. He’s a sweet guy who has done amazing things for the football team.

However, he will miss the fans, as every player who leaves this area does. To be honest, I believe that Gus (Hamer) has spent more time watching games and other events here than he has at Sheffield United. Callum will therefore truly miss it, and that goes for everyone—well, 99.9 percent of them. I was simply considering Viktor Gyokeres there, and I don’t think he will since he is very concentrated and will be working on his task. However, we have unique supporters who help you along the way, which is what truly makes this club unique.
