Jose Cordoba seemed certain to be Philippe Clement’s first summer acquisition with the Rangers as of last week.

The 22-year-old Panamanian defender was connected to a January move to the Rangers, and rumors of an Ibrox transfer began to circulate.

Jose Miguel Dominguez, a journalist, asserted that Rangers were vying for Jose Cordoba’s signature, claiming to be interested in the Levski Sofia defender from France, Turkey, and Belgium.

A slew of connections in Scotland followed, further exacerbating the situation due to the player’s Instagram activity and rumors that he attended the victory over Kilmarnock.

Then, according to Scottish journalist Chris Jack, Rangers are in “advanced” negotiations to sign Jose Cordoba, a player who might cost up to £3 million, as their first summer acquisition.

Prior to us all beginning to think that it’s a matter of when rather than if, a disgruntled journalist from Panama has been raising concerns about the whole thing across Latin America.

Cordoba to Rangers connections are “weird”

Journalist Alvaro Martinez is based in Panama and has connections to several regional news outlets.

Speaking on the El Desmarque program via broadcaster COS Panama, Martinez cut a frustrated figure when talking about Jose Cordoba’s future.

The journalist says he has been investigating the reports as much as he can, but the majority of the sounds are coming from Scotland.

Although the reporter refrained from revealing any major details regarding the story, it is evident that Jose Cordoba’s team in Panama is keeping quiet about his growing closerness to the Rangers.

Furthermore, Martinez seems to be implying that Scottish football isn’t that much better than the Bulgarian game and that there isn’t a clear-cut explanation for the “strange” transfer links to Rangers.

Alvaro Martinez remarked, “Look, I have been looking into the Jose Cordoba connections because I think half of Scotland already takes it for granted.”

Ranger Jose Cordoba to the I’m not sure whether you can clarify what I remember about another Panamanian who plays Scottish football.

“That I recall, Thierry Small, the former loanee of St. Mirren? He was not born in Panama, but he has Panamanian ancestry, thus he is not entirely Panamanian.

In any case, I attempted to get confirmation of the information from those who knew Jose Cordoba, but they were unable to provide it. Nevertheless, why is there so much information in Scottish media outlets?

“What is happening? Has everything been prepared already? It’s a question that I pose. I’m not making any claims or announcing that I’m dropping a bomb because that bomb was initially dropped in Bulgarian soccer.

“But if you would want, we can give him a call and get the details on our friend the Bulgarian soccer player who was scheduled to play here at El Desmarque.

“Let the host, Carlos Mendoza, prepare the entire scene. However, the information is peculiar because it originates in Scotland rather than here.

“Is that practical or not practical? It’s a step, not a big step, in my opinion.

“It’s a small step, but I think Scotland is on a slightly higher level than Bulgaria.”

Doubts over Rangers’ transfer surfaced

Alvaro Martinez seems to be irritated for two different reasons.

First off, with everyone being reticent, the reporter is unable to obtain inside information regarding Jose Cordoba’s situation and his possible trade to the Rangers.

Second, the writer may have a much larger expectation for Cordoba’s future than he does for Scottish football.

The journalist has, however, raised some questions about the Rangers’ decision, but Ibrox supporters have been around this block too often to be unaware that nothing is finalized until it is signed.

In addition, a picture of the player with a scarf over their head is shown to them.

Jose Cordoba appears to be an intriguing target, but we won’t rule anything in or out until there is a more firm breakthrough with Rangers.
