As Hummel prepares to debut the first strips since their collaboration with the Black Cats was finalized, supporters of SUNDERLAND may anticipate that the next season’s kits will feature “intimate detail” that draws from the club’s history.
This summer, in addition to the home and away jerseys, a third strip will be unveiled. David Bruce, Sunderland’s new chief commercial officer, is amazed by the efforts Hummel has taken to make sure the kits have a personal touch.
Sunderland and Hummel have a long history together. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the sportswear company and the club established a well-known partnership.
Additionally, the club and a Danish company announced a new “multi-year” collaboration last month, and fans are already excitedly anticipating a sneak peek at the uniforms for the upcoming campaign.
SUGGESTED READING:”With hummel, it’s quite unbelievable what we’ve been able to get done,” Bruce added.
“It’s been a wonderfully cooperative process. They arrive, ascertain our needs, receive the brief, and we discuss the region and certain seasons. Are there any unique resources available to us, or are there any noteworthy events taking place in the city that we believe would enhance storytelling?
“This year, we have several kits that are based on historical events or important things related to the city and its relationship to the team. They consider those artistic domains before utilizing the kits to make that a reality.
“You’ll quickly understand exactly what we mean by that by looking at the home, away, and third jerseys. We’ve put a lot of effort into issues that we believe are important to supporters and the team.
It is a completely bespoke piece that speaks to the neighborhood, the club, the city, a particular occasion, and the fan base; it is not an off-the-rack item. A kit is the most personal item a fan can purchase. We do not consider that to be a given. We must be fixated on the specifics and the things that matter most to the supporters.”
Jobe Bellingham, a star for Sunderland, has already seen a sneak peek of what the team will be wearing in 2019.
In an interview with the club, when asked about his goals for the upcoming term, he replied, “I haven’t really thought about next season yet.” The most exciting thing is that I’ve seen the kits, but I haven’t yet made any goals. That’s when I return for preseason in the summer.”
