Losing £10 million target to Ipswich Town this summer is a possibility for Leeds United.

While Leeds United is still hoping to capture Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon, there are two other teams vying for the Welshman’s signing this summer, based on the most recent sources.

Joe Rodon | One to Eleven | Swansea

The Wales international became a West Yorkshire fan favorite after moving to Elland Road for the season last summer on loan. Under Daniel Farke, Rodon played a pivotal role in the team’s fight to return to the Premier League. But moving up to the Premier League was always a prerequisite for his continued success at the team.

Back in March, Football Insider revealed that Spurs were prepared to let go of Rodon during the summer transfer window, but they wanted to get between £10 and $15 million in exchange for him. Re-signing Rodon has became considerably more challenging since the team lost to Southampton 1-0 at Wembley Stadium three weeks ago and was not successful in winning promotion to the premier league.

According to TeamTalk, Leeds United is still hoping to sign the 26-year-old back in the upcoming months. But according to the publication, Southampton and Suffolk Town have both entered the contest, so they now have fierce competition for the center back.

Throughout the 2023–2024 season, the former Swansea City defender made 50 appearances for the Whites in all competitions, including 43 in the Championship. It will be very challenging for Leeds to entice him back to the team in summer, though, as Premier League teams are eager to acquire his talents.

Leeds United currently owes a substantial sum of money. The board may need to sell off some important assets before any new players arrive because the club still owes £190 million in unpaid credit from player purchases made over the last few seasons. Of this amount, £73 million must be paid by the end of the month.

It appears improbable that Rodon could be signed for a sum of £10–15 million as a result. The Saints and Ipswich will have the funds to meet Spurs’ asking price for the Welshman, who is now good enough to play in the Premier League.
