It is said that Derby County is getting close to making their first “couple” of summer signings.

Derby County has released six players this month on free transfers, but they haven’t added any new players since being promoted.

The Rams are woefully thin at several positions after the departures of Tyreece John-Jules, Martyn Waghorn, and Dwight Gayle, forcing them to rely on James Collins and Conor Washington.

Just weeks before his departure was officially announced, goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith had won the League One Golden Glove, thus it startled supporters when the club announced the goalkeeper’s departure as well.

Derby, meantime, is in a frantic attempt to improve their midfield and is reportedly interested in Brighton’s Marc Leonard. They are also attempting to make a permanent move for Ebou Adams.

Although it’s unclear who Derby is focusing on, it wouldn’t be shocking if it was Adams.

The midfield player was reportedly “immense” the previous season, and Paul Warne “been trying for weeks” to get him back to the team.

His Cardiff contract expires in the summer of next year, so the Welsh team may try to fetch a respectable price to keep him from leaving for nothing in a year.
