Terrible: Tottenham has set a £10 million asking price, while Southampton, Ipswich, and Leicester want to sabotage the Leeds United agreement.

Spurs are reportedly offering £10 million for Joe Rodon, a transfer target from Leeds United, while the recently promoted teams Southampton, Ipswich Town, and Leicester City close in on him.

After the center back’s return from loan, Football Insider reports that the Premier League team is open to selling him.

The defender competed for a promotion to the top division with the Whites during the entire season.

At Wembley Stadium, Daniel Farke’s team lost 1-0 to Southampton in the play-off final, just missing out on the championship.

During his tenure with Leeds, Rodon made 43 appearances in the regular Championship season and participated in all three of their play-off matches (all statistics sourced from Fbref).

In the competition to sign Rodon permanently this summer, Leeds will have opposition from Tottenham.

Along with Spurs, teams like Southampton, Ipswich Town, and Leicester City are showing interest in the defender.

The three recently promoted players want to improve their defensive options so they can play in the Premier League the following year.

The Yorkshire team will be severely harmed by this, as they are probably going to lose out on a transfer for the defender should serious top tier interest materialize.

Ange Postecoglou does not have the 26-year-old in his plans at Spurs, thus this summer will likely see his permanent departure.

The Wales international’s contract has a one-year extension option that the London club recently activated, extending it until the summer of 2025.

If they don’t try to capitalize on the player during this final summer window, they run the chance of losing him for free in a year.

It is believed that Spurs will be persuaded to cash in with an offer of about £10 million.

Rodon is rumored to be eager to leave Tottenham, as he has had difficulty getting playing time since transferring there from Swansea City in 2020.

Leeds’s reliance on Joe Rodon

Rodon contributed significantly to Leeds’ success the previous campaign, solidifying his status as a regular starter for Farke’s squad right away.

Despite the fact that the team just missed out on a return to the first flight, he received a great deal of praise for his contribution to the club’s promotion bid.

Leeds may now lose the opportunity to compete for Rodon’s signature because at least three Premier League teams are vying for his services due to their inability to advance.

It’s also doubtful whether the Yorkshire team could afford to compete for the signing of a player valued at £10 million given their financial circumstances.

The £10 million Spurs are requesting is anticipated

Given that Tottenham will want to extract as much money as possible from Rodon’s possible sale, an eight-figure asking price is not out of the ordinary.

A lot of teams are interested in Rodon, who just had an outstanding Championship campaign.

His profile would naturally rise as a result, making it more difficult for Leeds to recruit him in the event that they were not promoted.

It would also be especially painful to lose him to one of the three recently promoted Premier League teams, considering how near Leeds was to securing their return to the top division on their first try.
