£10 million Coventry City signs defender Luis Binks to a long-term contract

Luis Binks, a defender from Bologna, has joined Coventry City permanently for an unknown amount, pending international clearance. The 22-year-old and the Sky Blues have agreed to a four-year deal.

While on loan at Coventry, Binks had a productive 2023–24 season, making 28 appearances across all competitions and guiding the team to the FA Cup Semi-Final.

Playing a lot for the Tottenham Hotspur Academy’s Under-18 and Under-21 squads, Binks started his professional career there. Before moving to Bologna in August 2020, he made 25 appearances for the Montreal Impact of the Major League Soccer (MLS) in his first professional contract, which he signed in February 2020.

After making his Bologna Serie A debut in September 2021, the center defender made 15 matches. During the 2022–2023 season, he also relished a 34–game loan stint at Serie B side Como.

Gillingham-born Binks is eligible to play for Scotland, having been called up in the Under-16 and Under-18 age groups. He has represented England up to the Under-19 level.
