Depressed After ridiculing Sunderland, Alan Shearer makes fun of David Moyes’ “really tough” recruitment of £20 for Newcastle.
In October 2021, PIF, Amanda Staveley, and Jamie Reuben completed a £305 million deal to purchase Newcastle United from Mike Ashley, becoming the new owners of the Magpies.
Everything at St. James’ Park has altered since then. Newcastle United is a highly ambitious club that wants to change the game and rise to the top. Having participated in the Champions League the previous season, they had undoubtedly already accomplished that.
Tyneside has seen significant investment, allowing Eddie Howe to lavish money on top players. It is uncommon for a transfer window to close without a major acquisition, and this summer will probably end with the arrival of a new right winger.
International celebrities like Bruno Guimaraes, Alexander Isak, Sven Botman, and Sandro Tonali have come for the big bucks. They demonstrated that elite athletes are willing to relocate to the Northeast by supporting Newcastle’s PIF proposal.
But David Moyes claims that hasn’t always been the case.

Moyes has discussed his career as a player and manager on The Rest Is Football podcast with Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, and Micah Richards.

The player Alan Pardew believes would be a better fit for England than Anthony Gordon is named “for me.”
That includes his tenure as Sunderland manager, about which Shearer questioned him so well after their conversation on his Real Sociedad career.
“Every good thing must come to an end, but why did you choose to visit the unclean people?” Shearer enquired.
Fans of Sunderland, I’m kidding! That part might have to be removed.
After talking about his choice to relocate to the Stadium of Light, Moyes addressed the difficulties he faced persuading players to go to the Northeast.
“Sunderland is a great club,” said Moyes. I’m not sure whether you can draw the players to the Northeast, but Alan will be aware of this. It’s quite difficult. Newcastle is currently drawing some excellent players, but perhaps it is just a result of offering them a high enough salary.
PSR is currently Newcastle’s biggest issue with hiring.
It has previously proven difficult for teams like Newcastle and Sunderland to persuade certain players to relocate to the North East.
Fortunately, with the club’s newfound cash and reinvigorated drive, it is no longer as much of a problem for the Magpies.
The larger problem is, in fact, permission to spend. Getting the players to come to Tyneside is not an issue when you consider the players that have relocated to St. James’ Park.
The issue is that Premier League clubs’ spending is restricted by sustainability and profit regulations, making it difficult to afford them. This month, it’s a big deal because Newcastle is supposedly under pressure to sell someone before June 30.
As Moyes points out, Newcastle has drawn some outstanding players lately, and if PSR hadn’t been in place, they would have drawn many more.Clubs like Newcastle, who have the resources and the drive to advance, are being held back by the regulations.

This summer, a number of teams are already attempting to sign the “exceptional” Newcastle attacker.
This summer, Newcastle United has had to deal with the departures of important players.
Newcastle has not really had to worry about the possibility of losing high-profile players until the January transfer window.
Due to the club’s rapid ascent after the PIF purchase in October 2021, it was only logical for the majority of the reports to focus on prospective high-profile additions.
To finance additional investments in Eddie Howe’s team, there were hints that some of the club’s valuable assets could need to be sold because they were operating under FFP restrictions.
This summer has seen more of the same.
Bruno Guimaraes’ contract contains a £100 million release clause, which is why he has been linked away multiple times.
Although he has stated he wants to remain in St. James’ Park, Alexander Isak is another person who has been predicted to relocate.
While on loan at Feyenoord last season, Yankuba Minteh made an impression and some of his teammates even called him “excellent.” Additionally, it has been predicted that the winger would reach “world class” status in the following two years.

The Gambian hasn’t appeared in a game for Newcastle, but Howe was supposed to evaluate him throughout the preseason.
However, Minteh has been linked to some of the top teams in Europe as Newcastle reluctantly concedes he may be sold.

This summer, a number of teams are attempting to sign the “exceptional” Newcastle talent.
Journalist Florian Plettenberg on X (previously Twitter) reports that inquiries about the 19-year-old have already come in this summer.
Nuri Sahin, the new manager of Borussia Dortmund, is said to be a big admirer, and the team is allegedly eager.
Yankuba Minteh is still unsure of his course in life.
It appears that Minteh hasn’t made up his mind about what will happen in the upcoming season, despite all the rumors regarding his future.
The player’s agent stated last month that he would give it his all if he moved to Newcastle. He will also put forth his best effort if he is loaned out to someone. When it comes down to it, all he wants to do is play football.
He doesn’t give it a lot of thought. Newcastle will choose where he plays, but he will undoubtedly give it his all. He’ll make an effort to persuade the management that he belongs there. He’s just going to wait and see what happens during what promises to be an entertaining summer.
“I urged him to mentally prepare for what’s going to happen next season and that he did the best he could with his loan arrangement so he could not do more. He’ll attempt to perform wherever you put him. Whether it’s good enough or not will be determined by Newcastle and the management. There is nothing he can do but play football.
