£40 million QPR owner Marti Cifuentes delivers a 25-word note to Sunderland and Burnley

Due to his work at Loftus Road during the previous season, the QPR manager attracted the interest of potential competitors.

Following a stellar debut in the division at Loftus Road, QPR head coach Marti Cifuentes has been connected to open positions at Championship rivals Sunderland and Burnley in recent weeks.

According to reports, the Black Cats and Clarets are fans of the Catalan coach and would be willing to pay a compensation money to try and get the 41-year-old to leave London. Although Cifuentes had made his commitment to QPR clear towards the close of the previous season, rumors of interest persisted.

Supporters will be greatly relieved to hear that the R’s boss has now reiterated his plans to manage QPR in the upcoming campaign. After losing the Championship for the sixth time in a row, the team was ranked 23rd when the club hired Cifuentes in October.

The London team ended the season in 18th place, six points above the relegation zone, thanks to Cifuentes‘ cool handling of the relegation struggle. He was questioned about allegations of interest in his services from Sunderland and Burnley during a Sky Sports interview.

In response, he said, “It indicates that people appreciate your work, but this was a collective effort. I am eager for the future and have my full attention on QPR.”

Before returning for pre-season in the upcoming weeks, Cifuentes is taking a break at his home near Girona, Catalunya. QPR will play friendly matches against Tottenham Hotspur, Reading, and QPR in order to be ready for the forthcoming Championship season.

QPR were led to safety by Cifuentes last season.

To assist Cifuentes in assembling a team that enjoys a campaign free of concerns about relegation from the previous season, work needs to be done in the transfer market. The goal of signing new contracts for existing stars has taken up most of the energy thus far.

Regarding the upcoming season, Cifuentes stated: “We must have great humility. There are many excellent managers in the world, as well as many teams with larger budgets than ours. I believe that assuming that just because we have a positive trend, it would succeed would be naive.

“The off-season is crucial. We’ll drop games. That’s how football works. However, my constant goal is for the fans to return home inspired by our efforts.”
