Brazilian media state that Chelsea has launched an attempt to recruit Nottingham Forest defender Murillo.

After Thiago Silva left, Enzo Maresca’s team needed a new center defender, and they’ve already made a bid for highly regarded 19-year-old Aaron Anselmino of Boca Juniors.

Murillo meets Chelsea’s requirements for a defender who can contend for a starting position right away, though, having had a good first campaign at Forest.

The 21-year-old, who cost £15 million to acquire from Brazilian team Corinthians, entered the Premier League in August of last year. He was a standout player for Forest last season as they just missed relegation.

In addition, Atletico Madrid has shown a great desire to sign Murillo and has already had discussions with the defender’s agents.

However, Forest’s £50 million asking price has apparently turned off the Spanish team.
