THE ULTIMATE: Derby County Victory in the Watford Goal Race

Journalist Alan Nixon says Derby County beat Watford in the fight to sign Ben Osborn, a midfielder for Sheffield United, for free.

Osborn participated in 24 Premier League games for the Blades the previous year, but he was unable to keep his team from losing.

Though his contract was about to expire, he was being pursued by a number of teams, and Sheffield United could have retained him had their takeover been successful.

Derby, the recently promoted team, and Watford were at odds, but Paul Warne’s team prevailed in the race.

In order to prepare for the challenge of competing in the second tier, Derby is looking to reassemble their team, and they see Osborn as a potential asset to have throughout the campaign.

Osborn, on the other hand, has no qualms about joining Derby County, a team that plays against Nottingham Forest, his boyhood team.

The 29-year-old midfielder’s appearance for Derby will only be his third team overall.

Now, it’s unclear when the Rams will be able to formally announce the signing.
