But it looked a whole lot worse
Yesterday, Minnesota Vikings tight end Robert Tonyan ending up having to be taken off of the field during the team’s practice session. The Vikings have already had to cope with a few severe injuries this training camp season, but it appears they’ve avoided a very large bullet in this situation.
Tonyan is battling with back spasms, according to the team. He was allegedly down on the field for a bit before he ending up getting taken off, so it might have been lot worse. There is no news yet on whether or not he will miss any time moving forward.
Tonyan was hired this offseason to help replace T.J. Hockenson, who opened training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform List after the knee injury he suffered late in the 2023 season. There has been quite a deal of hype around him, as he supposedly looked fairly excellent during the team’s offseason training.
Signing with the Vikings has concluded Tonyan’s tour of the NFC North. He joined with Detroit as an undrafted free agent after leaving college and has played for both Green Bay and Chicago prior to going to Minnesota.
Hopefully Tonyan’s issue will be a minor one and he’ll be back and contributing before too long. The Vikings don’t need to be dealing with any more injury difficulties at this moment, particularly at a position that they’re already a bit down at.
