Rafael Nadal has voiced his dissatisfaction with the Paris Games schedule after learning that his singles match is set to begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
On Saturday night, the Spaniard and Carlos Alcaraz finished their doubles match just after ten o’clock in the evening.
“A game at 2:00 p.m.? On Saturday night in Paris, Rafael Nadal told the media, “I don’t understand the schedule.”
“I find it absurd to be performing at two o’clock,” he added.
“I’m not sure if I’ll be playing tomorrow.
“To have a chance of getting results for Spain, I’ll have to return to the village and speak with the team. Then, I’ll make the choice that seems most appropriate.”
“Usually, less really is more.”
NADAL IS GLAD ABOUT THE LEVEL IN THE FIRST DOUBLES MATCH
Nadal was happy with the level he and Alcaraz produced in their first doubles match together, despite his displeasure with the Olympics’ schedule.
“It was the best level match,” the 38-year-old said.
“I believe we performed well and played with the appropriate tenacity in the pivotal moments.
“The match was of the greatest caliber; the opponents were a very solid duo, among the greatest in the world.
“It was a challenging game; we had fun but also had some setbacks.”
Next up are Tallon Griekspoor and Wesley Koolhof or Marton Fucsovics and Fabian Marozsan, as Nadal and Alcaraz, also known as “Nadalcaraz,” take on.
If Nadal does compete in the singles event, his opponent will also be Hungary’s Fucsovics.
