Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has emphasized that Ruben Amorim maintains a strong relationship with the players, who continue to fully support him despite the ongoing struggles on the pitch.
Currently, United sit in 15th place in the Premier League following their 12th loss of the season on Sunday, a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, with James Maddison scoring the only goal of the match, adding to the pressure on Amorim and his squad.
Out of these 12 defeats, Amorim has been in charge for eight, earning just 14 points from his 14 matches at the helm.
If this form continues, United would finish the season with 42 points, which would likely be enough to avoid relegation.
Ruben Amorim gave Leny Yoro his debut in December, and since then, the French defender has appeared 15 more times for Manchester United. Yoro has shown flashes of his talent and high potential as part of Amorim’s three-man defense system.
Unfortunately, the teenager was unavailable for Sunday’s match against Tottenham, as he and Christian Eriksen were both sidelined due to illness.
In an interview with club media, Yoro shared that Amorim’s praise of him as a “really fast” and “modern defender” boosts his confidence.
Earlier today, a report from The Peoples Person suggested that some Manchester United players are losing faith in Ruben Amorim. However, according to Yoro, this is not true.
Yoro responded, “Of course, it’s good for me. It’s a positive impression, and I need to follow his instructions on the pitch. I’m confident in this—maybe I’m not yet performing at 100% of my ability, but I know that with time and experience, I will get there.”
“I spoke with him when he first arrived at the club, and I immediately thought, ‘This is a very good coach who enjoys speaking with the players and values building a strong relationship with us.’”
The former Lille player continued, “He understands us deeply because he was a player himself. He knows the emotions you experience, whether you’re playing, not playing, or having a bad game.”
“He knows how to manage those situations, and I think that’s the most important thing.”
“Tactically, he’s top-notch. We don’t have extensive training sessions to learn everything, but he makes sure to give us everything we need before the game so we can be the best version of ourselves. We know he’s fully behind us, and we’re fully behind him, so it’s great.”
After the match against Tottenham, Amorim expressed hope that Yoro would be fit and ready for Saturday’s upcoming game at Goodison Park against David Moyes’ Everton.
