Nick Sirianni of the Eagles talks about his friendship with Jalen Hurts following a shocking incident

Head coach Nick Sirianni of the Philadelphia Eagles and quarterback Jalen Hurts reportedly have a relationship that “is still a work in progress” since “there was some disconnect between them due to their personalities” during the team’s collapse last season, according to a shocking revelation published last week.

During his Wednesday training camp interview with reporters, Sirianni touched on the subject.

Chris Franklin of NJ Advance Media shared Sirianni’s statement, “Jalen and I’s relationship is good,” with NJ.com. You just cannot assess it by looking only at your own relationships. To be honest, not everyone sees that, so when you hear a news like that, you do not really believe it. I can not wait for our fourth year together to begin with him. We have accomplished some pretty amazing things together, and I am thrilled for him.”

Analysts and fans alike criticized Sirianni and Hurts after the 2023 Eagles started the regular season 10-1 in December, finished 11-6, and then lost 32-9 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a wild-card playoff game to exit the postseason with nothing.

If the Eagles falter at the crux of the season once more, there is speculation that general manager Howie Roseman and owner Jeffrey Lurie may consider splitting ways with Sirianni and/or Hurts in the upcoming offseason.

Throughout the summer, Bill Belichick, the former head coach of the New England Patriots, has been connected to the Eagles on multiple occasions.

The Eagles will be “operating in a new structure where Sirianni appears to be transitioning into more of a CEO-type role,” according to a February report from ESPN’s Tim McManus. Kellen Moore will take over as Philadelphia’s new offensive coordinator.

Regarding the current configuration of the team, Sirianni remarked, “I am not in that quarterback room all the time anymore.” Sometimes you just naturally click with someone since you are in there all the time. You have to set aside a little bit more time to speak with them when you are not just with the quarterbacks, which is obviously the case when you are not in there all the time.”

The Eagles were ranked third among the betting favorites to represent the NFC in Super Bowl LIX as of late Wednesday morning, with +700 odds, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.

Naturally, Sirianni and Hurts are expected to lead Philadelphia to more than just a postseason berth this year by both Lurie and Roseman.
