No, Norris’ fifth-place finish in the Belgian Grand Prix was not a “penalty.” Inadvertently, Brown struck his driver with a golf club, as the CEO of McLaren himself disclosed on social media. The photo of Norris with a bruise with the message, “Next time don’t stand so close.”

Lately, McLaren has frequently visited the Formula One podium. Oscar Piastri helped the team secure a podium finish at Spa-Francorchamps, but Norris was unable to advance past P5 in the race after starting from the fourth position due to George Russell’s ban. Still, the Woking-based squad has plenty of optimism heading into the summer break, while Red Bull Racing’s competitors have work to do.

Brown is the host of this weekend’s MotoGP British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The MotoGP riders have recently concluded their summer break, while Formula 1 has just begun. The Austrian Grand Prix is set for August 18, following the British Grand Prix on August 4. By then, the F1-installed temporary gravel lanes at the Red Bull Ring will have been taken out.
