Manchester United’s Injury Woes Extend Beyond First Team as Dan Gore Suffers Fresh Setback

Manchester United’s ongoing injury crisis isn’t just affecting the senior squad—it has now hit their loan players as well.

Dan Gore, who recently joined Rotherham United on loan, has become the latest victim of United’s bad luck. According to the Manchester Evening News, the 20-year-old has returned to Carrington for treatment after suffering a hairline foot fracture.

Gore made an instant impact on his Rotherham debut, coming off the bench against Birmingham City and providing a brilliant assist in a 2-1 loss. However, just as he was beginning to settle in, he ruled himself out of the next fixture due to injury. Now, he faces around a month on the sidelines before he can resume his loan spell.

This setback adds to a frustrating run of misfortune for the young midfielder. His previous loan at Port Vale in early 2023 was cut short after just one game due to injury, and a freak shoulder issue further delayed his progress last summer.

Gore, who made his senior debut for United under Erik ten Hag in September 2023, was once regarded as a rising star in midfield, even ahead of Toby Collyer in the pecking order. However, repeated injuries have disrupted his momentum at a crucial stage of his development.

With United currently short on midfield options due to injuries to Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Collyer, manager Ruben Amorim was forced to hand Casemiro his first start of 2025 in the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham.

While Gore’s intensity and style of play align well with Amorim’s philosophy, his priority now must be staying fit and gaining consistent first-team experience before he can push for a spot at United.
