Transfer News: Rahmanullah Gurbaz joins Guyana Amazon Warriors for the 2024 CPL

Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the first pick of Afghanistan, has joined the Guyana Amazon Warriors for the CPL 2024. Imran Tahir, who led the group to its first championship the previous year, has been kept on as captain.

Gurbaz, who was a member of the team in 2022, will rejoin them. In six games, he amassed 157 runs, including two half-centuries.

 

 

The South African all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius and Pakistani batsmen Saim Ayub and Azam Khan are among the other foreign players who have been retained. Some well-known West Indies players, including Romario Shepherd, Keemo Paul, Shai Hope, and Shimron Hetmyer, have also been retained.

To complete their roster, Amazon Warriors will need to add three more players at the July draft, as they have already signed 14 players.

 

Last season, Amazon Warriors won their first CPL championship by defeating Trinbago Knight Riders in a low-scoring final. On August 30 in North Sound, the reigning champions will play the new team, the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.

 

For the first time in ten years, games in the 2024 CPL will be held in Antigua, from August 29 through October 6. The other locations are Barbados, Guyana, Saint Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, and Trinidad and Tobago. The championship game will be held at Providence, Guyana’s National Stadium.
