Video: Following a crazy incident at Iowa Speedway, an IndyCar driver was transported

During the last lap of the Indycar race at Iowa Speedway, Sting Ray Robb was involved in a severe collision.
Update: As a precaution, the Indianapolis 500 driver was evacuated to a nearby hospital.

The second race of an exciting doubleheader INDYCAR race weekend took place on Sunday at Iowa Speedway. There was a loud crash as it concluded.

See the video of the IndyCar crash below.

Alexander Rossi stalled off turn two on the last lap. He seemed to be running short on fuel or out of it altogether.

Sting Ray Robb spun out of control and went flying. The car was launched high into the air by air getting under it.

Robb landed on the left rear wheel after losing contact with the ground with all four wheels. Then the vehicle came crashing down the backstretch.

Ray Stong Robb tumbled, mostly upside down, down the backstretch. In turn three, he stopped, still upside down.

The safety squad arrived on the scene promptly. They turned the vehicle over onto its damaged wheels. Then there was a fire, but it was put out very soon.

After getting out of the car, he was put on a stretcher. Robb gave a thumbs up as they were hoisted into the ambulance.

Since then, a local hospital has received an airlift for the driver.

“Well, first, I wanna hope that Sting Ray is okay,” said Scott McLaughlin. What a disastrous crash that was.

Alexander Rossi, Ed Carpenter, and Kyle Kirkwood all slid in the direction of the inner wall.

Health Update
The medical team released the following information soon after the crash:

“Sting Ray is faring nicely. “He’s awake, alert, and in good condition,” said Julia Vaizer, the lead physician for the Indianapolis 500.

“As a precaution, we will send him to the hospital so that they may do some imaging. He will travel by plane just due to the location.

Nevertheless, he greets everyone and appears to be in a good mood.

Ed Carpenter’s remarks
“I’m doing fine. Carpenter told NBC, “I’m just angry,” as he left the care facility.

“I was aware that Alex was lagging behind.” My spotter informed me a few laps prior. It appears that Sting Ray simply miscalculated the closing angle. even if Alex’s slowness was obvious.

Then, in an attempt to get down, I spun. I didn’t anticipate it being that difficult. I guess Kirkwood came from behind and launched me straight over Alex after I kind of fell into him.

“I was essentially just a victim of two accidents that happened two days in a row.”

Update: AJ Foyt Racing issued the following information after Sting Ray Robb was freed.

“Sting Ray has been released from Mercy One Des Moines Medical Center following additional assessment.”

“The AMR Safety team’s prompt action, the INDYCAR medical staff’s meticulous care, and INDYCAR’s strict safety regulations for our race cars are greatly appreciated by Sting Ray’s family and AJ Foyt Racing, as they enabled him to escape this horrifying incident today.”
