The NBA offseason has barely begun, with the majority of the big fish free agents having already signed deals with their new teams.
The Dallas Mavericks are expected to be among the best teams in the Western Conference again next year as a result of their excellent roster reload, which centers around Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
Dallas signed Naji Marshall and traded for Quentin Grimes to start the offseason, but their greatest summertime move was getting Klay Thompson in a six-team sign-and-trade.
Dallas signed Thompson to a $50 million, three-year contract, and they pulled off a brilliant signing. The Mavs signed Thompson, one of the best shooters in history, in an attempt to add more shooting to their roster through free agency.
Declares in five words how happy he is to be joining the Mavericks, Klay Thompson
Thompson broke his quiet with a five-word statement expressing how thrilled he is to be a Maverick after the Mavs’ sign-and-trade for him was finally completed over the weekend.
In reference to his upcoming Mavericks trade, Thompson posted on Instagram, “This is going to be so much fun.”
Thompson appears to feel the same way about joining this extremely talented Mavs group, which has supporters happy. As we’ve seen with Irving over the past 15 games, Thompson should be able to return to enjoying himself while playing basketball with the Mavs, which should be a less stressful situation than what it would be like to play for the Golden State Warriors.
The possibility of a similar atmosphere between playing for the Lakers and the Warriors was one of the reasons Thompson signed with the Mavericks rather than the Lakers.
is altogether different from both of those teams. Nico Harrison has made Dallas a place free agents want to come play, as evidenced by the fact that he signed Thompson this summer and Irving again last summer. Thompson is eager to play “fun” with the Mavericks, and it’s likely that his new teammates and the team as a whole share his enthusiasm.
