On Wednesday at Tarouba, Jeremy Solozano polished up a century for the West Indies Championship XI against South Africa, re-entering the running for selection for the Test team.
Following the dismissal of fellow starter Tagenarine Chanderpaul (1) in the third over of the game, Solozano managed to put together partnership scores of 49 with Amir Jangoo (30) and 51 with Justin Greaves (24).
After adding another 103 for the sixth wicket with Shamar Springer, who was not out on 45, he eventually succumbed for 111.
At the end of play, Springer and Joshua Bishop (6 not out) had taken the West Indies Championship XI to 245 for 6.
Kagiso Rabada finished the first day of play with stats of 3 for 47, having taken the first three wickets to fall.
During his 211-ball inning, Solozano hit 16 fours and one six.
The 28-year-old batsman, who was born in Arima, represented the West Indies in their lone Test match against Sri Lanka at Galle in November 2021.
He was, however, hit in the head during a fielding stroke and was unable to continue the Test match.
Since then, Solozano has not competed for the West Indies, and in the first-class regional competition, he was dropped from the Red Force squad.
But for the last two seasons, he has succeeded with the Windward Islands Volcanoes, putting himself back in the running for a spot on the West Indies squad.
In 57 first-class games, Solozano averages 23.89 and has two centuries and twelve fifties.
Total scores: 82 overs, 245 for 6 (Jeremy Solozano 111, Shamar Springer 45*, Kagiso Rabada 3/47), West Indies Championship XI.
